CANADA’S TOP 30 LIST SEEKS SELECTION TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Natasha Wodak of North Vancouver set a season's best in the 10,000m in Palo Alto, CA at the Jordan Invitational with her time of 31:43.26. This Olympian now is ready for selection to the Doha, Qatar World Championship team for Canada.

Rachel Cliff’s 31:54.88 just missed the 2019 World Championship eligibility mark of 31:50.00. The Vancouver runner does have her qualification for Doha, Qatar in the marathon with her new Canadian record of 2:26:56 set in Nagoya, Japan on March 10th this year.

Aaron Brown of Toronto took the bronze medal in the first Diamond League meet of the year in Doha, Qatar with a world qualifying mark of 20.20 in the 200m.

Brittany Crew of Mississauga edged her Canadian record in the shot put by one centimeter with a throw of 18.61m in Charlottesville, VA.  This mark makes her eligible for World Championship selection.

Justyn Knight of Toronto and Ryan Smeeton of Calgary both qualified for selection to the world Championships with their 13:20.80 (5000m) and 8:27.90 (3000m steeplechase) respectively at the Jordon Invitational.

Maddy Price’s personal best of 51.56 set in Baton Rouge, LA. The Torontonian’s time edges the Doha standard of 51.80 to qualify her for selection to the World Championships.

Canada’s relay teams are in Yokohama, Japan for the World Relays Championships this weekend. The top 10 teams in the 4x100m, 4x400m for men and women plus the 4x400m mixed team will automatically qualify for the World Championships in Doha, Qatar set for 28th September. Canada will contest every relay except the men’s 4x400m.

Many of these Top 30 athletes will enter the 36th Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic on June 20th at Swangard Stadium.
