JEROME CLASSIC FACES GORDIAN KNOT OF PUBLIC HEALTH RULES

Almost 200 athletes have exhibited an interest in competing in the 2021 Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic set for Saturday, June 12, 2021 but interpretation of British Columbia Public Health Rules announced on May 25 are still under study by the governing bodies, viaSport and BC Athletics. The complex interplay of travel between health districts and exemptions provided elite athletes and the Covid-19 strategy to hold the Jerome Classic in Burnaby, Vancouver and Kamloops create a Goridan knot of complexity for officials to unravel.

Coaches are frustrated in the lack of clarity as their athletes seek qualifying standards for the Tokyo Olympic and a variety of national and international teams. Meet Director, Nigel Hole has provided a link which reflects the current interpretation of expected rulings so that athletes can prepare for the month of June.
