The Canadian U16 Champion over 800m, Raiya Matonovich of Kamloops confirmed her entry in the Harry Jerome Indoor Games 300m and 600m U18 division as the local indoor season kicks off on February 4 at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

This year will be a challenge with a return to more normal situation as the Covid threat is declining.

Meet organizers, Carl Savage and Fred Pawluk are attempting to regain the rhythm of the now annual event since 2011 at the ROO.

Track and field clubs across the province have been severely affected by the pandemic and it is unknown how well the organizations can support and indoor competition as early as February 4.

Entries do not close until January 29 but now with 10 days to go, it is encouraging with over 200 entires have been received.

It is hoped that the normal entry of over 500 athletes of all ages are received before the deadline.

The Harry Jerome Indoor Games is unique in that it provides opportunities for age group, U16, U18, Open and Masters athletes to participate in the legacy from the 2010 Olympic Games.
