JEROME CLASSIC WILL BE IMPORTANT STEP FOR DJANGO LOVETT'S ROAD TO IAAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN DOHA ,QATAR

Coach Ziggy Szelagowicz of the Richmond Kajaks, announced today that Django Lovett will compete in the high jump at the Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic just hours after he won the silver medal in 2019 Nanjing World Challenge in China today.

2019 Shanghai Diamond League winner, WANG, Chu took the gold in Nanjing with 2.31m while Django was one cm short of his season best of 2.30m. The Surrey, BC high jumper won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 in the Gold Coast, Australia with his 2.30m jump.

The meet record at the Jerome Classic is 2.31m set by World Champion, Jesse Williams of Eugene, Oregon in 2009. The entry standard for the IAAF Doha World Championships is 2.30m.

Django will be joined by training mates, Emma Kimoto of Richmond and Alexa Porpaczy of Surrey who have jumped 1.84m and 1.80m respectively.

They will contest the women’s high jump meet record of 1.95m set 35 years ago by the iconic Debbie Brill.

Canada’s best athlete will meet an international field at the 36thVancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic on June 20that Swangard Stadium.
