"LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGHTER" Micha Powell was named to Team Canada's roster for the China vs Canada Team Sprint Challenge set for the 35th Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic at Swangard Stadium on Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday June 27. Olympian, Rosey Edeh is the Canadian record holder in the 400m hurdles and daughter Micha Powell was 2016 Olympian in the 4x400m relay. Rosey competed in the Jerome Classic during the 1980's. Micha will return from competing in Europe to join her Canadian team mates for the Jerome Classic.

The Canadian Olympic Committee reported "Micha Powell has plenty of athletic pedigree. Her mother Rosey Edeh is a three-time Olympian and the Canadian record holder in the 400m hurdles. Her father Mike Powell is a two-time Olympic silver medallist for the United States and the world record holder in the long jump. But the younger Powell only began running track competitively in her senior year of high school. She now holds the University of Maryland records for the 400m both indoors and outdoors and was named a Second Team NCAA All-American for her 2016 indoor season. Powell first represented Canada at the 2015 NACAC meet. She ran a personal best 51.97 seconds in the 400m at the NCAA East Regional in May 2016. Powell was named to the 2016 Olympic team as part of the 4x400m relay ......"
Micha will join team mates on June 24 in preparation to compete in the 4x400m on Tuesday night and 400m on Wenesday night and will face strong competition from Team China lead by CHENG Chong, PAN Gaoqin, HE Ke and LIANG Nuo
