Derek Drouin of Corunna, ON has completed his first decathlon since his personal best of 6592 points set in 2010. This weekend he scored 7150 points in Santa Barbara, CA.
The Olympic and World Champion in the high jump set 7 personal bests in the 10-event test. Derek is aiming to compete for Canada in the Decathlon at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in 2018.
During the 2-day event he jumped 2.28m in his traditional event, the high jump. This mark is a world record for the high jump during a decathlon. He joins our Olympic bronze medalist, Damian Warner who holds the world record for the 100m during the 2016 Gøtzis Hypo-Meeting decathlon.
