Derek Drouin continues to impress, as he opened his indoor high jump season with a world leading mark of 2.33m. The Corruna, ON jumper, who now trains in Toronto with coach, Jeff Huntoon, tied for first with Sylvester Bednarek of Poland at the Banksa Bystrica Jump competition in Slovakia. The current World and Olympic Champion announced this week that he intends to contest the decathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast, Australia.
At the same European event, Prince George. BC's Olympian, Alyxandra Treasure opened her indoor season with 1.89m leading Canadian women high jumpers. The Kansas State graduate cleared her personal best of 1.93m in 2016.
