Canadian colours shone brightly in Gotzis, Austria today as Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Humboldt, SK and Damian Warner of London, ON dominated the unofficial world championships of multi-events.
Brianne continued her momentum after taking the gold medal in the pentathlon at the World Indoor Championships in Portland in March as she set the world’s leading mark in the heptathlon with 6765 points in Austria. She had personal best marks of 12.93 in the 100m hurdles, 23.33 seconds in the 200m and 47.74m in the javelin.
Damian Warner also set the world leading mark of 8523 points in the decathlon while he recorded the world decathlon record for the 100m with a sparkling 10.15 seconds. Damian and Brianne both won the silver medal at the World Championships in Beijing last summer and are strong contenders for the podium in Rio.
