Two Canadian records fell to Canadian women this past weekend.
Sultana Frizell extended her winning and record breaking ways in Toronto by spinning the weight throw 23.32m, breaking her own record of 22.00m set earlier this winter. Sultana holds the outdoor Canadian record in the hammer throw with her 75.73m set in Tucson, AZ in 2014.Nice.
Olympian, Brittany Crew threw with 17.93m to win the shot put at Penn State. This York university graduate's mark is just shy of Canadian Indoor record of 18.01m set by Julie Labonte in 2012.
Victoria Tachinski broke the U20 indoor record for the 400m set by Christian Brennan of 53.82 set in 2014. The high school student from Winnipeg ran 53.40 at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, ID. This athlete who has chosen Penn State this fall, also holds the U18 Canadian indoor records at 300m- 38.48, 400m- 53.97 and 600m- 1:30.28 plus the Canadian outdoor record at 800m -2:03.58.
Canada’s 800m star, Melissa Bishop who a close 4th last year in Rio, took top spot on the podium at the AIT International Grand Prix in Athlone, Ireland for the second time in 2 years. The University of Windsor graduate won in 2:01.42. Her Canadian indoor record is 2:00.19 and her outdoor record is 1:57.02.
