Hurdles no barrier to Canadian women on track as NTL approaches

Canada's top 800m runners

Canada’s top 800m runners

If you examine the top list for women’s track and field in Canada this week, you will be struck by the dominance of hurdle events. Of the 17 women who have hit the 1100 IAAF point level, no less than seven compete in either the 100m hurdles or the 400m hurdles.  However there are 7 of Canada’s middle distance runners in the top list.  Christabel Nettey, a long jumper who also hurdles, Kimberley Hyacinthe, a 200m runner and Sultana Frizell, a hammer thrower, hold the remaining 3 spots.  And this is marked by the fact that 2 of our best hurdlers, Phylicia George and Nikkita Holder Warner have not yet started their season.
