INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD IS REBORN IN RICHMOND OLYMPIC OVAL
Indoor track and field returns to Metro Vancouver after more than 20 years, as plans are unveiled for the Vancouver
Sun Harry Jerome Indoor Track Classic to be held at the newly reconfigured Richmond Olympic Oval on March 12,
2011. The last major track and field competition, the Achilles Indoor Games was held at the Pacific Coliseum in
1988. This rebirth is the result of forward planning by the City of Richmond for this legacy of the 2010 Winter Olympic
Games. The track and field community at the elementary, high school, university and club levels in British Columbia will
benefit from competitive opportunities created by this 200m track surfaced with a spike resistant Pulastic SP polymer.
The events for this season of indoor track and field are
- March 12, 2011 The Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Indoor Track Classic
featuring national and elementary events.
2. April 9, 2011 The Province Gran Forza presented by TELUS®

Kim Young of the Achilles International Track and Field Society said “These events will be held on a world class facility
which is the result of extensive planning by the Richmond Olympic Oval staff lead by John Mills and Gerry De Cicco
along with Fred Pawluk, President of the Kajaks Track and Field Club and Brian McCalder, CEO of BC Athletics.”
Ruky Abdulai is preparing for 2012 London Olympic Games

they prepare for the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and Rio in 2016.
