Liz Gleadle sets NAIA Record
Liz Gleadle of UBC won the NAIA Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois on May 21 with a javelin throw of 54.31m. This establishes a new NAIA championship record beating a 22 year mark set by Barb Lashinski of Whitworth College in 1987. This is a repeat performance by the Kitsilano Secondary graduate as she won as a frosh last year. Her personal best of 55.85m is leads all Canadian throwers this year and is just 21cm short of Krista Woodward’s Canadian record of 56.06m. These two athletes will meet head to head in the 26th Annual Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic on June 14th at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC.

Curtis Moss almost repeated his teammate’s performance as took the silver medal in the men’s javelin. His throw of 67.79m just 15cm short of Jesse Straub of Concordia University best throw.
Diepiriye Iworima of SFU took the bronze in the women’s long jump with a jump of 5.96m
